Abstract
Schwannomas are slowly growing, nonaggressive tumor and mostly occur in cranial and peripheral nerves of the upper limb but rarely in the retroperitoneum. Frequently tumors are identified incidentally during radiologic investigation of unrelated symptoms, but also presented with a palpable mass, pelvic or abdominal discomfort, and back or leg pain. Pelvic retroperitoneal Schwannoma can be mistaken for more common gynecologic tumors such as ovarian tumor. A
Schwannoma in the pelvic retroperitoneum that was preoperatively misdiagnosed as an ovarian tumor in a 65-year-old woman is presented, with a brief review of the literature.
